The next suburb north of Evanston,
Wilmette is a lakefront community whose
illustrious residents have included actors Ann Margaret, Charlton Heston and Bill
Murray. Housing styles include large Georgian, Colonial, Tudor and French
Provincial designs. Wilmette is home to the
world’s oldest Bahai House of Worship; with its crystalline white façade and stunning
architectural design, the building has been a local landmark since the
completion of its construction in 1953. Metra trains carry commuters downtown,
and Wilmette is the final stop north on the
Purple Line ‘L’ train that connects to points throughout the city.
